The Garden in May

Some photos from the garden. Still alot of work to do. MUCH weeding and mulch to lay. Water barrels are set up and gathering water. Love having all the barrels. For the entire growing season here in Ohio it cost me $11.00 to water. The barrels save THAT much money! The wheel barrow has the plants I picked up at 70% off

Photos: Blue Purple Iris, Lavender, Arbor, Fuchsia, Peach/white Iris, Peony, Fuchsia, Sage (what happens when you leave it on over the winter, it blooms in May), Stock, Yellow Petunia, 'Golden Shower' Climbing Rose, 70% off plants, from Lowes, Wheelbarrow and 'Provence' Lavender and where the Fuchsia stays by the wooden swing.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend.
If you see a veteran, go shake their hand and say thank you!

Friday visitor

This cute little bunny has decided to make my backyard its home. This was taken around dinner time and then around 8 pm I went back outside and the bunny is laying behind my Columbines and next to my Lavender. Do not know if it is male or female. No matter. It can stay in the yard as long as it can get along with my dogs and stays out of my green bean patch. I did see some evidence of munching on my Aster plants, so Da Bunny better behave.

The first SCCA National race of the year is taking place this weekend at Mid Ohio and I am off at 6 am tomorrow morning. Photography gear is all packed. Laptop charged. Batteries all charged. Cooler is loaded with water. Lemon slices are cut. Raspberries and strawberries are chillin'. Cookies are baked. Now it is just time for me to clean the kitchen and get to bed.

Have a great weekend;
Joanne

Mom's Day 2010

To my mother Dorothy.
Know how much you are loved and how I will always remember all the lessons you have ever taught me. Know how much I cherish you and love you. Know that with you being 80 years old our time may be coming to an end, but know that I know will be together again in heaven with Dad and all our dogs. Know that when that day comes and you leave me here alone, my heart will have a huge empty spot, a hole that will never be filled because you will be gone from my daily life.

For all those wondering, Mom is fine and not in any health crises, but this is how I feel today.

Here is Mom with her only grandson (and my godson) in front of one of her favorite places.

Here she and I are at the Zoo during the winter. Only us 2 crazy people could convince my nephew to go to the zoo during a winter's night.

I love you Mom. Happy Mother's Day.

Sunday, May 2nd

No, I have not allen off the face of the Earth, just getting the garden in shape for planting and racing photography season has started.

Yesterday I spent the day cutting the back yard... 2 DAYS AFTER THE GRASS GUY WAS HERE. I think he forgot to move the level to engage the blade. I did what any sane person would do, I fired him. The grass was so long that after cutting it with the mulching blade, I had to fire up the walk behind mower and bag all the clippings. Not how I want to spend my time.

Once that was done, I uncovered the 6 rain barrels and set them up. Normally, my brother does this but he is vacationing at Myrtle Beach. So, going by memory, I unhooked the gutters and set the shorter ones up and got the barrels all ready to collect rain water. Doing this saves so much money during the growing season. Each barrel is a 55 gallon drum with the hose connection WAY down at the bottom. Using gravity the water flows into a bucket and all the trees, shrubs, bushes flower gardens and veggie gardens get water. For the entire growing season, we only have a water bill of $11.00! that even includes water used in the house.

Today saw me at Nelson Ledges Road Course for the second day of the WERA motorcycle event. Forecast was for rain, but it did not happen. I was mainly out there to improve my portfolio and I want to rooster tail bike shots. Did not happen, but here is one.

Stitching wise, Ladybug, Ladybug is finished and I will write another post to include a photo. Next project is an older design "Believe" by Dew Dollies. Rather large design, finished size is 18" wide x 6" tall. Still have to design what fabric I want to stitch it on.

Until next time, enjoy your week;
Joanne
