Orchids, orchids and more orchids!

Yes, this is the same orchid that is the featured photo on my blog. I love how the purple and yellow are on this orchid. Try as I might, I cannot get an orchid to re-bloom. I follow all the "rules" and they do not re-bloom. Violets, on the other hand, are easy for me to re-bloom. I guess the only way I will see orchids in bloom is to keep going to Orchid shows and doing photography. Lucky for me, there are 2 shows in the Cleveland area in March.

9 days until the Flower Show!

Cleveland has a once a year Flower & Garden show and I am going on the 29th. Mom & I go on the last Friday of the show. Less people and I can get the wheelchair up close for Mom so she can see. I always take the camera with the long lens and we spend a few hours walking around, smelling fresh flowers and of course, buying a few things! So I thought I would post a few photos from previous years. Hey, it's winter and I need some color!

Here is the pattern I am using.. It is called Design # 116 from The Art of the Quilt.

and here is the fabric. Mind you this fabric has been discontinued but I have found up to 10 yards on eBay. It is a Timeless Treasures Fabric called "Rose". There are actually 4 different roses on this print, so when I fussy cut the 6 1/2" squares it will look different that the pattern.

This is going to be a queen size quilt that will go on my bed. The room is filled with cherry and mahogany antiques from my grandparents, so fabric will go nicely.

Peek a Boo

This is Joey, a terrier mix, as he peeks around the Florida room to see what has happened. In the snow you will see an icicle that has fallen from the roofline.
